I write this e-mail to you with a mixture of celebration and lament.
God has spoken very clearly to Kim and me in the last week through our Bishop and District Superintendent.
We have been asked to serve another church in the Conference beginning July 1st. I cannot say where until Sunday morning in deference to our process of letting both congregations know at the same time, so the "where" will be announced on Sunday. What is important for now is that the word be spread as widely as possible as quickly as possible to limit the "shock factor" at worship on Sunday.
There is much for us to process together over the course of the next couple of months, and I want you to know you will all be in my prayers as you assimilate this change into your lives.
I trust implicitly that God works in our process, and I ask you to join me in prayer for the Cabinet and our Staff-Parish Relations Committee who are right now beginning the work of listening to God for His guidance as to who our/your next lead pastor should be.
It has been the greatest blessing in out lives to spend these past nearly-seven years with you, and I want you to know that you have shaped and blessed us as a family as much as we have blessed you. That's the way God works; all praise and glory to Him.
Much more coming in the next few weeks; for now, please know you are in my and Kim's hearts, thoughts, and prayers.
