...Is It True of Churches?"
Hi All,
That's the sermon title for Sunday coming up. We are in the midst of introducing a partnership between Ft. Collins First United Methodist Church and the Wellington United Methodist Fellowship. This is not really new; the Wellington Fellowship began in 2007 as a partnership, and we are just really recovering that cooperative sense of ministry beginning in July.
The sermon is based on Ecclesiastes 4:9-12, which ends with what is probably familiar to many: "A cord of three strands is not easily broken."
What I'd like to ask is, "If that's true of individuals, is it true of groups of people, like churches?" If you follow this blog, or stumble across it in the next few days, and would like to contribute to thoughts for Sunday, I would be very interested in hearing stories about any kinds of partnerships you are familiar with or have experience with that would illustrate my belief that, indeed, this is true of groups of people (like churches).
Sorry for the long interval between posts...it's been an odd season in church, lots of special services and/or guest speakers. Great stuff, but it's been too much of a good thing. I'm ready to be back in the pulpit again.
Grace and peace in Christ,
Steve
